Who we are?
The South Sudanese Refugees Association (SSURA) is a registered, refugee-led community-based organization operating in Uganda’s West Nile region. Established in September 2016 in Koboko, Uganda, SSURA was founded to foster reconciliation and peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities. Currently active in Arua, Koboko, and Yumbe, we support psychosocial well-being and economic empowerment, promoting self-reliance for both refugees—whether in settlements or urban areas—and local community members. Additionally, SSURA engages in advocacy to raise awareness of legal protection issues.

Inclusiveness & Participation, SSURA recognizing that quality of life for all calls for input of all stakeholders; SSURA shall not work in isolation. It is committed to inspiring dialogue from the bottom up, promoting participation, building consensus, facilitating convergence, forging partnerships and engaging diverse stakeholders in achieving her vision and mission Transparency and Accountability, we commit to be fully accountable and transparent towards our beneficiaries, partners and financial donors by providing access to the information regarding the allocation and management of funds. We undertake to have in hand all necessary tools to ensure the correct management and operations.
Integrity and commitment, recognizing that SSURA is financially supported and answerable to all stakeholders, SSURA shall act in a thoroughly transparent manner in all the organization’s undertakings. OBJECTIVES: To promote reconciliation and peace building activities among the refugees and the host community
To create and promote economic activities for self-reliance.
To strengthen capacity building programs for effective participation in the refugee’s settlements and urban cities.
To advocate and create awareness on legal protection issue for the refugees in the Refugee Settlements and urban areas within the communities in Uganda.
To lobby and advocate for internal and external support for the association.
